What is the difference between organic and non-organic?
If you are curious about your foods, you might have consulted many sources to discern which one is better for you. But as you eye the differences, do you think that natural foods are healthy and safe as organic foods? Non-organic foods are considered for their minimal processing along with absence of hormones. Meanwhile, organics are those that come with heavy regulations. To further take a look on the differences of organic and non-organic foods, below are different aspects that distinguish them from each other.
Size and shape
When you eye for foods, you will instantly identify the difference between organic and natural foods because of their size. Organic foods are available in different size and they seem to have imperfect physical appearance. On the other side, non-organic foods tend to have the same type. As with produce, organic meats usually have different physical characteristics from the non-organic versions. Organic meats often have the same color with the non-organic cuts. However, they have different size as the organic meats are smaller. The difference in size is mainly attributed to production. Organic meats are not augmented with substances which usually end up to reduction of size.
It is not easy to identify organic from non-organic foods based on the quality because there is no standards that bind aspects when it comes to quality. For organic foods, they should meet the same standard with that of non-organic foods. However, additional standards should be applied to organic foods that are not set with the organic produce. In addition, organic foods should be certified by extra standards while non-organic foods are not likely requiring certification.
When someone considers minimal additive and environmental effect for quality, the score will go for the organic foods. But when the quality is all about the product consistency in size and shape, the non-organic foods have higher quality.
Pesticides and Additives
The most tangible difference that enables you to distinguish organic from non-organic foods is the presence of pesticides, additives and other substances. Non-organic comes with substances that are not present with those of organic produce. Under standard, pesticides and synthetic substances are used in processing organic products. Also, the presence of animals is needed for the production of organic foods such as eggs, cheese, meats without using antibiotic, synthetic substances, artificial additive and modification process. In the long run, all of these attributes come up with one meaning. Organic produce have fewer, if there is, artificial substances compared with the non-organic foods.
As conclusion, these differences may not be suggestive enough to tell which one should be ideal. But one thing is for sure, both organic and non-organic inorganic foods are in the industry for one big reason and that is to provide sufficient healthy produce for mankind. The production of the organic foods can also be an answer to the possible deficit in natural food production and to satisfy the ever-changing needs of amen when it comes to foods.
